Global ClimateStrike – Plant a Tree for Every Employee

Today the United Nations gives us 11 years to prevent irreversible damage to our planet. With a 1.5 degree global warming scenario we lose 70-90% of the planet’s coral reefs. At 2 degrees we lose over 99%. Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old schoolgirl, has inspired millions of children from 150 countries to take to the streets to pressure governments into acting. They are now are asking adults to join them. Not all employers are able to give their employees time off to join the ClimateStrike. Where it is not possible, for whatever reason, please plant a tree for every employee. https://readyfundgo.com/project/climate-

Waterfront property owners give the public their waterfronts for free

Saving the properties on Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes in North America, from falling into the sea united the city and owners in common cause, allowing them to work together as a group. Handing over waterfront ownership would save the owners money on erosion control, a new lake trail would increase their property values, and the public would enjoy access to the lake. It was win-win-win. https://reasonstobecheerful.world/this-lake-is-for-everyone/

Plastic eating fungi that could solve our garbage problem

According to reports, the mushroom’s plastic-devouring properties were first discovered in 2011, when a team of Yale undergraduates and their professor traveled to Ecuador for a research trip. They found the mushroom, microspora, in the amazon and were astounded to find that the fungus not only subsists on polyurethane (it’s the first plant to sustain itself only on plastic), but could do so without oxygen. That means it could be planted at the bottom of landfills and happily eat its fill of plastic for eons to come! https://www.newsweek.com/2014/12/26/plastic-eating-fungi-could-solve-our-garbage-problem-291694.html

Carbon Sequestering Seed Inoculation

SoilCQuest have an amazing seed technology which can sequester atmospheric carbon dioxide. This has the added benefit of improving soil health by increasing soil carbon levels which in turn promotes plant growth. This unique technology was discovered by examining the traits of plants that thrived in harsh environments. Find out more here https://www.soilcquest.org.au/
